It’s Friday night in T-Town and the girls are itching to kick up their boots. Each of us is adorned in painted-on jeans and teased hair that would make the 80’s blush. We arrived at Cricket’s Bar just in time for ladies’ night 99₵ margaritas, and we gathered in our usual booth next to the shuffleboard because heavy metal objects sailing across a sanded table go well with Tequila. We passed the $7 point when…

the DJ began to play our favorite song by Joe Nichols, Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off.  I was being crowned the limbo winner for the evening (Tequila weirdly makes you pliable), and my best friend (who shall remain nameless) was on the dance floor. It is true what Joe sings…Tequila made her clothes fall off.  I made my first intelligent decision all evening; no more Thursday night Tequila Honky Tonks for me.

Whether you believe my little yarn or not, be aware that this describes the happening activity in every Tequila-slinging establishment around the world. It’s a well-documented fact that Tequila can, indeed, kill ya.

INGREDIENTS

    • 1 lime wedge for coating rims of glasses
    • Kosher salt for coating rims of glasses
    • 2 cups ice cubes
    • 3/4 cup Grand Marnier
    • 3/4 cup premium, aged, añejo tequila
    • 1/2 cup fresh lime juice
    • Garnish: 4 lime wedges

PREPARATION

Rub rims of 4 stemmed glasses with lime wedge and dip in salt to lightly coat. In a cocktail shaker, combine remaining ingredients and shake well. Strain drink into glasses and garnish with lime wedges.
